Many of the meteorite rings being sold today are made from a thin strip of meteorite bent into a circle and then joined at the seam. We offer a line of exceptional Arizona Skies Seamless™ meteorite rings crafted from a solid billet of high grade Gibeon meteorite or Seymchan meteorite. These are the rings that we personally wear. We select jewelry grade Gibeon and Seymchan meteorites for use in our rings due to their beauty and superior stability. Improper meteorite selection can result in grainy, indistinct or non-existant Widmanstatten patterns, so when chosing the Artist to create your rings, make sure they know how to properly select and prepare meteorites. Our meteorites are composed of various iron-nickel alloys which produce gorgeous Widmanstatten patterns. Because we cut and prepare all of the meteorites used in our Seamless meteorite rings ourselves, we can, upon request, provide you with matching Men's and Women's rings that are Guaranteed to have been cut from the same 4+ billion year old meteorite! In our opinion this adds a very special significance to our rings whether they be promise rings, engagement rings or wedding bands! Be sure to inquire about this option. Individual rings will vary in appearance due to the fact that each ring is hand crafted and due to the unique nature of each piece of meteorite and its rare components including small natural inclusions of Troilite or Schreibersite. Custom Ring Ordering Instructions
Meteorite Ring Care
Our meteorite rings are naturally quite durable. That being said, Iif you would like your ring to stay looking nice you should care for it as you would any fine jewelry. Some common sense practices will go a long way. Obviously, don't wear your jewelry while doing yard work, construction work, automotive work, or while handling abrasive or corrosive materials. Don't abuse your jewelry, or bang it against hard objects which could scratch or dent it. The Gibeon and Seymchan meteorites tend to be naturally rust-resistant, so while hand washing is, in our experience, not a problem, we don't recommend exposing your jewelry to excessive moisture. As with other fine jewelry, meteorite rings should not be exposed to chlorine, bleach, chlorides or house hold cleansers. Don't wear your jewelry in salt water, the swimming pool or hot tub. We have noticed that some hand lotions can cause staining of our finger so we avoid wearing hand lotions with meteorite rings.
In cold weather or if you go swimming, your finger can shrink quite a bit causing your ring to fall off, so it is best not to swim while wearing your jewelry.
After a number of years, the etched pattern of your ring may be less sharp. If this occurs, the ring can be re-etched.
Caveat Emptor: As the price of quality Gibeon meteorites has increased up over the past few years, there appears to be a disconcerting trend of some individuals offering the Rust-Prone 'Muonionalusta' meteorites as stable "Gibeon" meteorites. Muonionalusta meteorites looks superficially similar to Gibeon when cut and etched, however, in our experience they tend to be much more prone to rusting, much more common and much, much cheaper. Muonionalusta is what we refer to as a "Ruster" meteorite. When made into jewelry, Muonionalusta is often so unstable that it needs to be plated with some precious metal to temporarily keep it from rusting away. Buyer beware!
