Toluca meteorites were discovered by westerners in 1776 in the Toluca valley of Xiquipilco, Mexico. Prior to this, the indigenous people of the region had used Tolucas for centuries to make iron tools. This beautiful iron meteorite is classified as a coarse octahedrite, and when etched, Tolucas exhibit beautiful interwoven Widmanstatten patterns!
